Job Summary
Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities, determine trucking requirements, and ensure space utilization meets cost and service standards. Analyze freight costs, standardize procedures to improve efficiency, and identify cost reduction improvements in material movement. Evaluate supplier performance, develop strategic logistical plans, and maintain relationships with freight companies and transload facilities. Lead associates, perform facility safety inspections, and mentor personnel to achieve goals in safety, quality, and delivery. Prepare monthly data tracking spend, fuel, and shipping/receiving department goals while developing visual management systems aligned with company strategy.
Required Qualifications
- minimum 5 years in logistics, distribution, and warehouse management
- Bachelors degree, preferably in operations, engineering, business management; or equivalent experience
- familiarity with OSHA rules and regulations
- Safety-focused attitude
- familiarity with DOT regulations
- knowledge with international shipping
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- previous experience with JDE ERP
- previous experience with WMS
