Job Summary
Oversee executive-level logistics operations for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, leading personnel in supply chain management, fleet coordination, and emergency response logistics. Direct resource staging and infrastructure support during activations while maintaining accountability for vehicles, capital equipment, and inventory systems. Provide on-scene command within the incident command system during major fires and rescue operations, ensuring alignment with department goals and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Manage budgets, analyze expenditures, and implement continuous improvements to enhance operational efficiency and workforce sustainability.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
- Extensive progressively responsible logistics leadership and management experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of supervisory experience (Fire Company Officer or higher) in logistics, emergency‐management logistics, supply‐chain operations, or comparable public‐safety environments
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Firefighter Certification
- Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic Preferred)
- Additional FEMA ICS certifications (ICS 100/200/300/400, NIMS)
- Ability to respond to emergencies and work extended, irregular, or nontraditional hours when operational circumstances require
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Emergency Management, or a related field
- Forklift or industrial equipment operator certification, when applicable to the assigned duties
- Progressive experience managing large-scale inventories, high-volume work order systems, or emergency response logistics
- Demonstrated experience leading logistics operations, managing resources, and coordinating complex, time-sensitive activities
- Experience working in Fire Rescue, emergency management, public safety, municipal operations, or a comparable environment
- Firefighter Certification and Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic Preferred)
- Advanced decision-making, prioritization, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and make sound decisions under pressure
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for effective communication and coordination with internal departments, Fire Rescue personnel, government agencies, vendors, and external partners
- Demonstrated leadership ability, including the capacity to lead diverse teams, motivate employees, delegate effectively, and collaborate across departments and agencies
- High emotional intelligence, situational awareness, and the ability to maintain professionalism and performance in high-pressure and emergency environments
- Strong strategic-planning skills, including the ability to establish goals, develop performance measures, evaluate outcomes, and implement continuous improvements
- Comprehensive knowledge of Fire Rescue operations, emergency response logistics, resource management, and operational readiness
- Knowledge of inventory control, procurement, warehousing, fleet coordination, asset management, and logistics systems
- Knowledge of applicable Fire Rescue equipment standards, safety requirements, regulatory practices, and operational procedures, including applicable NFPA and OSHA requirements
- Ability to manage complex, multi-functional operations involving procurement, logistics, fleet, facilities, safety, equipment, and emergency operations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced emergency services environment
- Ability to develop and monitor budgets, analyze expenditure, manage resources, and identify opportunities for cost efficiency
- Ability to negotiate and maintain effective professional relationships with vendors, contractors, service providers, government agencies, and mutual-aid partners
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inventory, procurement, asset-management, fleet-management, or enterprise resource-planning systems
- Ability to work effectively with Fire Rescue personnel, executive leadership, government officials, contractors, partner agencies, and the public
