Job Summary
Design and optimize regional and national freight transportation networks by evaluating lane performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and building predictive routing models using advanced TMS. Extract, clean, and interpret massive freight datasets to identify transit bottlenecks, then forecast seasonal volumes to align asset availability with demand fluctuations. Build interactive dashboards to visualize key metrics and apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate operational waste in terminal operations and driver workflows. Serve as the technical administrator for the corporate TMS and driver telematics hardware while collaborating with third-party providers to negotiate freight rates. Requires Hazmat certification and 3+ years of experience in transportation engineering or fleet logistics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Research, or a highly quantitative field
- 3+ years of experience in transportation engineering, fleet logistics, or freight network analytics
- Hazmat certification and/or experience
- High proficiency with leading TMS platforms (e.g., SAP TM, Oracle OTM, Blue Yonder) and routing optimization tools
- Advanced skills in SQL querying, Python/R programming for data analysis, and Microsoft Excel (macros, pivot tables)
- Deep understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, ELD compliance, CSA scoring system, and asset-based trucking constraints
- Strong root-cause analysis skills with a proven track record of reducing freight cost-per-mile or increasing trailer utilization
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management
- Certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL) or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
- Prior experience managing a private or dedicated commercial fleet
