Job Summary
Monitor active routes in real time, dynamically reassign orders to prevent delays, and prioritize STAT requests to ensure timely specimen delivery across multiple regions. Coordinate driver movements via GPS and dispatch systems, escalating risks immediately while maintaining strict adherence to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act. Serve as the primary contact for drivers and clients, managing order intake, validating details, and communicating service updates under high-volume pressure. Utilize Descartes, ShipTrack, and Geotab to optimize sequencing and track progress, ensuring all dispatch activities align with centralized operational standards and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Secondary school or equivalent education
- Valid driver's license with clean abstract
- Clear understanding of routes and geography
- 3-5 years related experience - manual dispatching
- Proficient with excel
- Ability to answer emails
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-paced environment with little or no supervision
- Good telephone manners
- Ability to diffuse difficult situations with clients and drivers
- Ability to make difficult decisions with little or no forewarning without immediate availability to supervisors
- Good Interpersonal Skills
- Effective, clear and concise communicator
- Ability to follow up on issued instructions
- Ability to work with internal departments
- No discipline communication on file
- Proficiency in dispatch, routing, and communication systems
