Job Summary
Monitor active routes in real time, dynamically reassign and resequence deliveries to prevent missed pickups and service disruptions. Prioritize STAT and time-sensitive requests while balancing competing operational demands across multiple regions. Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers and clients, managing order changes, escalating performance concerns, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act. Utilize integrated dispatch systems including Descartes Route Planner, ShipTrack, and Geotab to track progress and mitigate risks before service failures occur. Cover all shifts (Days, Afternoons, Evenings) on-site with 37.5 hours per week at a rate of $21 per hour. This 1-year contract supports Dynacare's centralized national logistics model, ensuring timely movement of medical specimens and maintaining high service standards.
Required Qualifications
- Secondary school or equivalent education
- Valid driver's license with clean abstract
- Clear understanding of routes and geography
- 3-5 years related experience - manual dispatching
- Proficient with excel
- Ability to answer emails
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-paced environment with little or no supervision
- Good telephone manners
- Ability to diffuse difficult situations with clients and drivers
- Ability to make difficult decisions with little or no forewarning without immediate availability to supervisors
- Good Interpersonal Skills
- Effective, clear and concise communicator
