Job Summary
Locum Emergency Medicine physician needed at Roseway Hospital in Shelburne, NS to provide coverage during active recruitment. Responsibilities include assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies; performing rapid evaluations and prioritizing care; managing a broad range of medical emergencies; ordering, interpreting, and acting on diagnostic tests and imaging; and collaborating with nurses, specialists, paramedics, and allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive emergency care. Remuneration includes guaranteed daily minimums ($1,200 for family physicians, $1,600 for specialists) with potential for additional shadow billings, accommodations up to $300/night, travel expenses (including air fare up to $1,500), and travel time up to 10 hours/week. Requires eligibility for full licensure with CPSNS, CFPC certification for family physicians, CMPA membership, and ACLS/BCLS/PALS NRPs; ER certification is considered an asset.
Required Qualifications
- Full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) for family physicians
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- ER certification considered an asset
