Job Summary
Locum cardiothoracic surgeon assignment in Cumberland, MD. Rounding with a physician assistant in the morning and performing procedures as needed; PA handles calls unless urgent/emergent issues arise. Rounds 2-4 hours depending on weekly cases; typical cases include Open Heart, Carotid, and possibly lung cases. PAs may perform EVH. Consults are taken by the PA and discussed with the surgeon by phone to determine next steps. On-site availability with 24hr or 12hr call; Level III trauma; on-call admissions average 1-3 per day with 1-3 cases per day annually. Requires active cardiac or cardiac and thoracic board certification, ACLS/BLS, and MD or IMLC license; minimum 2 years experience.”,
