Job Summary
Locomotive Field Service Technician responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining diesel-electric locomotives and related rail equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation while complying with FRA regulations and company safety standards; duties include inspections per 49 CFR Part 229 Subpart B, preventive maintenance, diagnosing/m repairing mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems, air brake testing, inspecting for leaks/defects, maintaining inspection records, supporting FRA audits, assisting with track inspections, and performing field repairs; requires High School Diploma/GED, 5+ years’ related experience, FRA qualifications, strong diesel engine/mechanical/electrical/pneumatic knowledge, ability to read technical manuals/schematics, valid driver’s license with REAL ID/acceptable alternative, and willingness to undergo background check and E-Verify.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum 5 years' experience in closely related field
- FRA qualification for inspection and maintenance activities
- Strong understanding of Diesel engines and mechanical systems and electrical and pneumatic systems
- Working knowledge of FRA regulations and inspection requirements
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
- A valid state driver’s license
- REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or acceptable alternative
- Background check and E-Verify
