Job Summary

Locksmith – Module C at USC Facilities Planning & Management leads and guides journeymen and Zone Maintenance Technicians in advanced locksmith work, including high security key systems, master key systems, and access-control installations. Roles include repairs, re-keys of mechanical and electrified hardware, installing panic hardware and electrified releases, reading blueprints/plans, maintaining key records, training staff, preparing maintenance reports, and ensuring safe, compliant job sites. The position requires project leadership, coordination of materials, adherence to safety plans, and readiness to respond to emergencies under USC’s operations framework.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of four-year apprenticeship program
  • 5 Years of journeyman experience
  • Four years’ experience as a trade-related trainee may substitute for completion of a four year apprenticeship program
  • Experience operating key cutting and code cutting machines
  • Experience maintaining records and preparing reports
  • Familiar with city and state building codes, OSHA rules and regulations, standard safety practices and equipment, and other requirements for workplace safety
  • General knowledge of industrial/commercial locksmithing
  • Experience with troubleshooting, maintenance and repair for Automatic Door Operators and Access Control Systems (hardwired and standalone)
  • Experience with High Security Key Systems
  • Ability to rekey High Security Cylinders
