Job Summary
Locksmith position at Harvard University CADM within Facilities Maintenance Operations. Responsibilities include installing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic locking systems (including cylindrical and mortise locksets), emergency exit devices, door hardware, vaults and safes, and the design and management of master key systems (including high-security systems). Must cut/duplicate keys, maintain records, retrofit/upgrades to access control systems, and collaborate with other trades. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and ADA requirements; provide responsive customer service; perform other duties as required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, perform physical tasks (bending, climbing, working at heights, confined spaces), and be available for overtime and emergency response. Requires a minimum of 5 years locksmith experience, strong troubleshooting and carpentry skills, knowledge of electronic access control, and a valid driver’s license. Working hours are 40 per week with a schedule that includes early morning shifts. The role is based at Harvard Campus – Cambridge, MA, USA, with on-site (in-person) work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of locksmith experience
- Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and carpentry skills
- Experience with installation and repair of mechanical and electromechanical hardware
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
