Job Summary
Locate underground utilities for clients and property owners using utility maps, as-built civil engineering drawings, and electronic locating equipment according to 811 dig laws. Mark locations with flags and/or paint, prepare documentation on work completed, and investigate excavations causing damage to utilities. Candidates must be proficient in using a cell phone-based app for recording marks and maintaining communication with clients. On-call rotation required, with a travel commitment of 75% or more.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years Locator experience required
- Know best locate practices, procedures and 811 law
- Read and interpret utility maps and as-built civil engineering drawings
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a DOT physical certification
- Able to pass a drug screen
- Ability to maintain a Tobacco free vehicle
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to Travel (75% +)
- Be able to work in all weather conditions
- Maintain cleanliness and good operating condition of all provided equipment and vehicle
- Communicate and use interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, supervisor, the general public
