Job Summary
Utility Locators are responsible for locating underground utilities based on 811 tickets, utilizing maps and electronic locating equipment. Responsibilities include marking utility locations, preparing documentation, and investigating damages to utilities. Candidates should have 2 years of locator experience, be comfortable with mobile apps for recording work, and possess a valid driver's license. The job requires knowledge of utility location practices, attention to detail, and the ability to travel frequently.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years Locator experience required
- Must have valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a DOT physical certification
- Able to pass a drug screen
- Ability to maintain a Tobacco free vehicle
- Attention to Detail
- Comfortable using Cell phone-based app for documentation
- Knowledge of best locate practices, procedures and 811 law
- Ability to read and interpret utility maps and as-built civil engineering drawings
- Ability to maintain small- to medium-sized equipment and trucks
- Ability to communicate and use interpersonal skills for effective information exchange
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Willingness to Travel (75% +)
- Must be available to work varying schedules and overtime
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality
