Job Summary
Conduct daily underground utility locating, troubleshoot issues, and mark the ground using paint and flags to promote community damage prevention. Read maps, interpret blueprints, and determine the best method and sequence for locating with provided equipment and technology. Use a laptop to receive, document, and process tickets via email. Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners while adhering to safety protocols. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, walking up to 5 miles daily and carrying electronic locating equipment. Requires a valid driver's license, high school diploma, and ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Flexible schedule includes evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays with an on-call rotation for emergency calls.
Required Qualifications
- Eighteen years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day 2-3 times a week
- Ability to carry up to 5 lbs of electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs
- Ability to lift in excess of 75 lbs with tool aids
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (some evenings, weekends, and an occasional Holiday)
- Ability to respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotation
- Preference to work outdoors in all weather
- Desire to work independently
- Ability to problem solve with speed and accuracy
- Pass pre-employment background and drug screening
