Job Summary
Locate underground facilities using mechanical/technical equipment to precisely locate gas, water, sewer, electric, fiber, telephone, and other lines. Read maps and blueprints to determine accurate utility locations, determine efficient routes in rural and urban areas, interpret job orders, and communicate locate issues to managers, excavation crews, and homeowners. Role includes removing/replacing manhole lids, on-call duties, and completing documentation; requires on-site training for locator certification, valid driver's license, ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, and the physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk long distances.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to learn – Instructor led training is required to receive locator certification
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to drive local roads, work outdoors, and to operate independently
- Ability to perform locate duties before or after normal business hours when on call
- Ability to access restricted and/or controlled areas (such as federal installations)
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to use computer to complete documentation and receive and send email
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds
- Ability to walk all types of terrain (grass, ditches, wooded areas, gravel, etc.) in all types of weather conditions
- May require walking up to 5 miles in one day, several times a week
- Salary Range:$20.00 To $22.00 Hourly Entry-level no experience starting pay: $20 per hour
