Job Summary
Locate Technician responsible for using mechanical equipment to locate underground facilities such as gas, water, sewer, electric, fiber, and telecom lines; read maps and blueprints; interpret job orders; determine efficient routes; communicate with managers, excavation crews, and homeowners; on-call duties and outdoor work with lifting requirements; training leading to locator certification; primary focus on accuracy and safety in urban and rural environments.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to drive local roads and operate independently
- Willingness to learn – Instructor-led training to receive locator certification
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds
- Ability to walk all types of terrain in various weather conditions
- Ability to access restricted and/or controlled areas
