Job Summary
Entry-level Locate Technician responsible for locating underground utilities, reading maps and blueprints, and using locating equipment to accurately mark utilities. Training provided on the job with 100% paid training. Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather, able to work independently, and capable of problem solving with speed and accuracy. Daily tasks include using a laptop to receive, document and process tickets, communicating with peers, managers, and homeowners, and potentially bending or walking several miles per shift. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver license with a clean record, ability to walk up to 5 miles per day, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds with or without tools. Schedule is flexible with occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations; pre-employment background and drug screening are required.
Required Qualifications
- Eighteen years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day 2-3 times a week
- Ability to carry up to 5 lbs of electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 25 lbs or lifting in excess of 75 lbs with tool aids
- Pass pre-employment background and drug screening
