Job Summary
Locate Technicians identify and mark underground utility lines (fiber, gas, electric, telecommunications) using specialized equipment, read maps/diagrams to determine buried services, document work with laptops/tablets, and communicate with contractors, homeowners, and utility personnel. The role requires outdoor fieldwork, adherence to safety standards, and may involve local travel and occasional overtime/weekends; full paid training is provided.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and customer service abilities
- Comfortable working outdoors and on foot for extended periods
- Ability to follow procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Willingness to travel locally and work occasional overtime or weekends as needed
- Read and interpret utility maps and diagrams
- Use company-provided tools and equipment to identify and mark locations of underground utility lines
- Document work performed and complete reports
