Job Summary
Conduct welding functions per jobsite specifications, including ARC, SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, GAS, MIG, and TIG processes on high- and low-pressure pipe, structural steel, handrails, and brackets. Select equipment and plan layout and assembly of welding while performing fit-up and grinding as required. Ensure all welds meet precise accuracy standards and pass NDE testing including visual, hydro, and 100% x-ray. Identify safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize risks while adhering to safety protocols and working in elements up to 12 hours daily.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years or more welding experience
- Must be able to pass a practical welding skill test required by the jobsite
- Complete Matrix Service Safety training
- Process Safety Management training
- Client / Site specific training
- MUST obtain and maintain active status within the appropriate drug testing program
- MUST pass background check
- Must possess current certification in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW or FCAW
- Verification of 8,000 craft related hours OR Graduated journeyperson status
- Must be able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively
- Must be able to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs
- Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind
- Must be able to work for long periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots
- TWIC card
- 20-hour high hazard facility training card
Desired Qualifications
- 20-hour high hazard facility training card is preferred
- Verification of 8,000 craft related hours OR Graduated journeyperson status preferred
