Local Content Associate

Job Summary
Act as Tetra Maritime's local point of contact in Abuja, meeting regularly with government officials, regulators, and authorities including NIMASA, the Nigerian Ports Authority, and Nigerian Customs. Prepare, submit, and follow up on documentation, permits, and approvals to ensure compliance with Nigerian maritime and trade regulations such as Cabotage and Local Content. Develop and maintain strong relationships across government bodies, partners, and stakeholders while monitoring developments in the Nigerian oil and gas sector to keep the group updated on opportunities and regulatory changes. Travel frequently between government offices and agencies across Abuja and the wider country.
Required Qualifications
- A good working knowledge of Nigerian government processes, approvals and Local Content requirements
- Confidence navigating the relevant authorities and agencies
- An established network among Nigerian authorities, agencies, oil and gas and industry contacts
- Proven ability to build one quickly
- Willingness to travel frequently and move between government offices and agencies across Abuja and the wider country
- A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience
- Background in government liaison, regulatory affairs, documentation or compliance within shipping, oil and gas, logistics or a related sector
- Strong relationship-building, communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to build trust with regulators, authorities, partners and internal group functions
- Good organisation and time management
- Ability to keep multiple approvals, deadlines and priorities on track at once
- Clear, credible written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
