Loan Advisor- (Consumer Loan Consultant)

Job Summary
The Loan Advisor originates consumer loans (auto, personal, credit cards) and home equity products (Adv Mortgage, Home Equity Fixed, HELOC) primarily via phone or online channels, reviews loan program options and terms, and guides members to select programs aligned with their financial goals. Responsibilities include proactive origination of new loan applications, meeting/exceeding production goals, processing applications accurately and in compliance, following up with borrowers, analyzing credit reports to identify savings opportunities, handling challenging member interactions with empathy, communicating loan approvals/denials, promoting ancillary insurance products, employing consultative selling to tailor financial solutions, and ensuring terms (rates, disclosures, costs) comply with policy and regulations (RESPA, ECOA, TILA). The role emphasizes delivering a positive member experience, staying current on industry developments, adhering to policies, and performing additional duties as required. Essential skills include strong communication, organization, self-motivation, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and familiarity with mortgage/consumer lending workflows; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred and prior loan origination/processing experience is required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2 years’ experience originating or processing consumer loans or residential mortgage loans
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record
- Ability to learn loan portfolio products
- Registration with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry and annual renewal
