Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, dozers, and excavators in a safe and efficient manner while performing routine maintenance checks to ensure equipment is in good working order. Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and specifications to complete road construction projects on schedule for military runways, DOT roads, and aviation facilities. Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members while following all safety procedures and company policies at all times. This seasonal, full-time position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in road construction, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel to job sites including frequent overnight stays. Additional security clearance is required for work at Randolph Air Force base.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in road construction or a related field
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel to job sites; may include frequent overnight stays
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit
- Work outside in all weather conditions
- Regularly work extended/overtime hours
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members to complete projects on schedule
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies at all times
- Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and specifications
- Perform routine maintenance checks and ensure equipment is in good working order
- Operate heavy equipment such as Dozers, Loaders, and Excavators in a safe and efficient manner
- Individuals who work safely and have the courage to speak up if you see unsafe behavior or conditions
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
