Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, dozers, and excavators in a safe and efficient manner while performing routine maintenance checks to ensure equipment is in good working order. Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and specifications to execute varied stages of road construction for military runways, DOT projects, and aviation facilities. Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members to complete projects on schedule while strictly following all safety procedures and company policies. This seasonal, full-time position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in road construction or a related field, a valid driver's license (CDL preferred), and the ability to work outside in all weather conditions. Regularly work extended or overtime hours, and the role may involve frequent overnight stays at Randolph Air Force Base where additional security clearance is required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in road construction or a related field
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel to job sites; may include frequent overnight stays
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit
- Work outside in all weather conditions
- Regularly work extended/overtime hours
- Ability to operate a loader on an assigned crew performing varies stages of road construction
- Operate heavy equipment such as Dozers, Loaders, and Excavators in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform routine maintenance checks and ensure equipment is in good working order
- Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and specifications
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members to complete projects on schedule
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies at all times
- Individuals who work safely and have the courage to speak up if you see unsafe behavior or conditions
