Job Summary

Conduct daily load checks for deliveries and will-call orders, verifying material type, size, quantity, and sequence to ensure 100% accuracy. Identify damaged goods, correct paperwork errors, and maintain yard cleanliness while performing daily safety audits of forklifts and equipment. Assist Load Builders and Drivers by reading picking tickets, tallying lineal footage, and preventing material damage through proper handling and packaging. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, operating forklifts, banding machines, and other yard equipment. This role supports PARR's mission of Legendary Service through Teamwork within a family-owned homebuilding supply company.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to speak, write, and read English
  • OSHA Certified Forklift license
  • Must be able to operate forklift, banding machine, tin snips, tape measure, power saws, hand truck, pallet jack, re-fueling stations, and all other equipment necessary for the job
  • Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and all other equipment necessary for the job
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 90 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle when necessary
  • Ability to read and interpret picking tickets and invoices
  • Ability to load and unload materials in a safe manner
  • Ability to utilize all appropriate safety gear required for this position
  • Ability to tally correct lineal footage totals on orders
  • Knowledge of how loads need to be properly labeled, protected, and kept damage free
  • Ability to identify damaged material
  • Ability to ensure appropriate paperwork is complete & scanned as per company policy
  • Ability to perform daily safety audit of forklift and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment
  • Ability to assist with prevention of material damage
  • Ability to identify areas of opportunity for best practices pertaining to handling of products, along with packaging for adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to follow through with team to make system corrections as needed when mistakes are made
  • Ability to ensure loads are built safely and accurately by correctly reading pick tickets and invoices
  • Ability to maintain yard cleanliness during course of work
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to operate forklift

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of load building experience
  • Two years of load building and/or yard/warehouse experience
  • Two years of experience working with dimensional lumber, panel products, and other building materials
  • Knowledge of receiving and inventory control principles, practices, and protocols
  • Ability to read grades of lumber and other materials
