Job Summary
Under general supervision, loads and unloads materials within a yard or work site, builds loads for delivery based on customer orders and vehicle capacity, and ensures balanced and safe hauling. Applies straps, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting, moves materials with hand trucks, forklifts, or other devices, reads work orders or follows instructions, labels items for correct identification, and adheres to safety procedures and periodic safety meetings. May perform related duties as assigned to support loading operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- three (3) months experience performing these or similar tasks
- Forklift certification required
- Knowledge of company products sufficient to take into account weight, shape and handling requirements
- Ability to read and write to handle work orders and labeling tasks
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to use simple hand tools
- Knowledge of safety procedures while performing forklift driving and materials handling tasks
- Ability to count items and verify against prepared lists
