Job Summary
Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trucks, or customer vehicles, installing strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit. Perform load-building by determining appropriate weight, composition, and placement based on customer orders and vehicle capacity to ensure loads are balanced and safe. Convey materials using hand trucks, electric dollies, or forklifts, and read work orders or follow oral instructions to identify materials to move. Attach identifying tags or labels to containers for correct item identification. Requires forklift certification, ability to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally, and knowledge of safety procedures. Work is performed within a production or yard environment subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, and equipment noise.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Three (3) months experience performing these or similar tasks
- Forklift certification
- Knowledge of company products
- Ability to read and write
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to use simple hand tools
- Knowledge of safety procedures
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to count items and verify against prepared lists
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds
