Job Summary
Load and unload materials within the yard or work site, assembling packages into trucks for customer delivery. Install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transit. Determine load weight, composition, and placement based on orders and vehicle capacity to ensure safe hauling. Move materials between storage and designated areas using hand trucks, electric dollies, or forklifts. Open containers and attach identifying tags or labels for correct item identification. Follow oral or written instructions to execute tasks while adhering to all safety procedures. Requires forklift certification and ability to lift up to 80 pounds on occasion.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Three (3) months experience performing these or similar tasks
- Forklift certification
- Knowledge of company products
- Ability to read and write
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to use simple hand tools
- Knowledge of safety procedures
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to count items and verify against prepared lists
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds on occasion
- Ability to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling
