Job Summary
Youth Program Intern supports after-school programming at La Mesita Apartments, delivering trauma-informed youth activities designed to promote academic engagement and social development. Responsibilities include assisting with structured youth activities, supervising and supporting staff, helping with games, crafts, homework help, program setup/cleanup, and participating in community events. The role emphasizes confidentiality, supervision, and learning through mentorship, teamwork, and professional conduct. Eligibility requires current college enrollment seeking academic credit, fingerprint clearance, and the ability to pass a background check, with 10–20 hours per week on-site in Mesa, AZ. The internship is unpaid and educational in nature, not a replacement for paid staff, with flexible scheduling based on academic requirements. Training and orientation are provided, and compliance with mandated reporting and organizational policies is required.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program and seeking academic credit
- Possession of a valid Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Able to pass a DES or DCS Central Registry background check
- Time commitment of 10–20 hours per week
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Adhere to all organizational policies including confidentially and mandated reporting requirements
- Comply with mandated reporting requirements under Arizona statute A.R.S. § 13-3620 by reporting any suspected abuse or neglect of a minor to the appropriate authorities
