Job Summary
Create an engaging, Reggio Emilia-inspired classroom environment while supervising children to ensure safe interactions and support their social, emotional, and intellectual development. Prepare snacks, maintain cleanliness in meal areas, and organize learning spaces and materials. Assist with classroom routines, including rest time and outdoor play, and collaborate with the teaching team to support student-led inquiry. Record observations on student engagement, document progress with photos and written reflections, and share updates via platforms like SeeSaw. Build trusting relationships with staff, children, and families while addressing concerns promptly. Maintain certification requirements, including CPR and First Aid, and participate in ongoing evaluations and professional development. Work full-time, 12 months, during all assigned hours including nights and weekends as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of the 90-hour Early Childhood certification, including 45 hours in child development and 45 hours in preschool methods
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Ability to stand, sit, and move around the classroom for prolonged periods
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, bend, squat, and perform other physical tasks related to cleaning and child care
- Must be able to ascend/descend stairs within the school
- Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as needed
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
- Basic proficiency in technology, including iPads and Google Suite
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid upon hire
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
- Must be able to bend, squat, and perform other physical tasks related to cleaning and child care
- Must be able to ascend/descend stairs within the school
- Must be able to stand, sit, and move around the classroom for prolonged periods
- Must be able to work during all hours as may be assigned by the School
- Must be able to perform job duties on campus unless otherwise permitted by the Head of School
- Must complete a background check (including criminal records, employment history review, online and social media check) satisfactorily before any candidate can begin work
- Must be able to respond to emails within 24 hours (excluding weekends and holidays)
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in early childhood education
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education
- Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy
