Job Summary
Litigation Specialist responsible for handling litigated and/or complex injury claims arising from Personal Auto and Commercial Auto Liability policies. Duties include determining coverage and drafting reservations of rights letters, conducting prompt investigations with statements from involved parties/witnesses and collecting documents (police reports, medical specials, photographs, appraisals), managing litigation with defense counsel and experts, maintaining diaries on open files, engaging with vendors to control expenses, researching and interpreting case law and statutes, evaluating use of experts and field investigators, maintaining and documenting claim activity, preparing and presenting claim evaluations to secure settlement authority, and establishing indemnity and expense reserves while adhering to Department of Insurance regulations. Requires college degree or equivalent claims experience, legal/medical terminology knowledge, strong negotiation and communication skills, and licensure as a claim adjuster where required.
Required Qualifications
- College Degree and/or 5 years of applicable claims adjusting experience
- Knowledge of legal and medical terminology
- Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claim adjuster
