Job Summary
Litigation Specialist responsible for handling litigated and/or complex injury claims arising from Personal Auto and Commercial Auto Liability policies. Responsibilities include determining coverage and drafting reservations of rights letters; conducting prompt investigations by securing statements and necessary documents (police reports, medical specials, photographs, appraisals); managing litigation with defense counsel and experts; maintaining diaries on open files; coordinating with vendors to control costs; researching and interpreting case law, statutes, and coverage forms to properly adjust and conclude claims; evaluating use of experts and field investigators; maintaining claim files in accordance with regulations and company policies; preparing and presenting claim evaluations to secure settlements; establishing indemnity and expense reserves; conducting onsite reviews of defense counsel as required by management; and adhering to Department of Insurance regulations specific to the loss state. This role emphasizes negotiation, organizational and interpersonal skills and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- College Degree and / or 5 years of applicable claims adjusting experience
- Knowledge of legal and medical terminology
- Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claim adjuster
