Job Summary
Review and set up new loss assignments for advanced-level commercial third-party general liability losses in a paperless environment. Establish initial loss and expense reserves, analyze policy language against loss facts, and draft complex coverage correspondence including reservation of rights and disclaimers. Proactively manage litigated claim files from inception to closure, directing outside vendors such as defense counsel and experts while documenting all file activity. Present loss facts and issues to management during roundtable discussions and regularly transmit Large Loss Reports. Obtain and maintain state adjuster licenses through mandatory continuing education. Serve as a technical resource through mentoring and knowledge-sharing, while occasionally participating in cross-departmental projects and industry seminars.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of insurance experience
- strong background in commercial general liability claims examination and coverage analysis
- intermediate knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel and E-mail
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively communicate on the telephone
- Obtains all required state adjuster licenses
- maintains licenses as required via compliance with mandatory continuing education requirements
