Job Summary

Oversee case management from inception through trial, settlement, and post-trial matters by drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents while citing-checking briefs. Manage and organize case files, document databases, and electronic filing systems, then prepare and file documents in state and federal courts via e-filing portals. Coordinate discovery responses, track deadlines, and support attorneys with factual research and pre-trial preparations including exhibit binders and trial logistics. Monitor pending court decisions, conduct legal research, and assist with witness files and trial logistics as requested.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a California law firm or legal organization
  • Compliance with California Business & Professions Code Section 6450 required, through one of the following: Certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA); or a certificate of completion of a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a postsecondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester, or equivalent, units in law-related courses and that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organiza...
  • Compliance with the continuing legal education requirements of California Business & Professions Code Section 6450(d)
  • Experience managing filings and case materials in state and federal courts
  • Experience managing complex court filings via ECF
  • Cite-checking experience using Bluebook and California Style Manual citation formats
  • Working knowledge of civil legal procedures, legal terminology, and court rules for both federal and California state courts
  • Experience supporting attorneys working across multiple matters simultaneously
  • Proficiency in litigation management and e-discovery software (e.g., Relativity, Everlaw, Concordance, CaseMap, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, Google Workspace, and document management systems
  • Familiarity with timekeeping and docketing software (e.g., Timesolve, Clio, iManage, CourtAlert, or similar)
  • In-office attendance required with up to 3 days remote each week
  • Based in Berkeley, CA
