Job Summary
Review emails from case teams, scanned mail, and ECF filings to determine docketing necessity and stage priority items into queues. Enter and update applicable deadlines in ProLaw using Westlaw Legal Calendaring Rules, while assessing whether items qualify for Outlook calendars. Communicate with litigation departments to gather case setup information and perform limited research to verify deadline applicability. Respond to inquiries regarding docketed events, deadlines, and rules, and maintain processes to ensure accurate calendar entry. Requires substantial Nevada and federal litigation experience, ProLaw proficiency, and ability to work independently under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- Substantial experience computing deadlines for state, federal and appellate courts
- Strong knowledge of litigation processes, court rules and procedures
- Strong critical thinking skills to process complex orders and analyze effects on other case deadlines
- Ability to research, analyze and summarize issues in writing and possess excellent attention to detail
- Familiarity with various court websites, docket searching and document retrieval databases
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and collaborate well in a team
- Candidate must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines, effectively prioritize multiple tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation
- High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to manage time effectively
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum 5 years of current Nevada Litigation experience on case teams and 5 years of current Federal Litigation experience
- Prior litigation paralegal or legal secretary experience preferred
- Prior work experience in large firms preferred
- Prior experience with rules-based calendar systems (ProLaw, Compulaw or eDockets software) required
- Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
- Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly
- Understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and responsible use in a professional environment
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, firm-approved AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms) to support daily workflow and/or improve work quality
- Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed
