Job Summary
Litigation Counsel to join a conservative/libertarian organization handling First Amendment, open government, administrative, civil rights, and related litigation. Responsibilities include creating, filing, and pursuing actions in federal/state courts and agencies against governments and public-sector labor unions; drafting legal opinions, briefs, memos, and analyses; communicating with supporters, media, and the public; advising staff on litigation strategies; fostering partnerships with like-minded legal groups; and public speaking at Foundation events. Requires licensure to practice law (or admission in process) in a state the Foundation will litigate in, and the role is based in Olympia, WA or Dallas, TX with openness to other locations.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed to practice law in a state the Foundation expects to engage in litigation
- Five or more years of litigation experience preferred
- Excellent academic credentials
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Ability to manage own caseload and work independently
- Willingness to work in either Olympia, WA or Dallas, TX (other locations considered)
