Job Summary
Litigation & Compliance Counsel at Eastman will provide strategic litigation leadership and compliance counsel to the legal team, with hands-on responsibility for managing commercial disputes, pre-litigation activities, and court proceedings; lead internal investigations and coordinate with law enforcement and regulators; develop and deliver compliance training and policies; oversee e-discovery and outside counsel engagements; and advise business clients on risk, contract disputes, and regulatory obligations. The role requires a JD with active bar license, a minimum of 6 years of civil litigation experience, strong writing and advocacy skills, and proven ability to coordinate complex matters across business units and jurisdictions. Occasional travel may be required; position is on-site at Eastman’s Corporate Headquarters in Kingsport, TN. Notice indicates visa sponsorship is not offered.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 6 years of civil litigation experience
- Experience leading or participating in internal investigations; familiarity with code of conduct and compliance policies and procedures
- Experience with e-discovery processes and tools; managing discovery workflows
- Experience supervising outside counsel and managing external investigation counsel
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and priorities across business units and jurisdictions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build credibility with business clients and cross functional teams
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with toxic tort, intellectual property, commercial contract, antitrust, personal injury, and/or insurance law
- Prior in-house experience
