Job Summary
Manage and support a diverse commercial litigation caseload by researching complex legal issues and drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal memoranda. Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation while working closely with senior attorneys on case strategy and litigation management. Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and courts to analyze complex legal and factual issues and develop effective litigation strategies. Ensure efficient caseload management while meeting litigation deadlines and billable requirements. This in-person role at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP in St. Petersburg, Florida, offers occasional remote flexibility and is ideal for candidates with 1-6 years of litigation experience or 2026 law school graduates who have taken the Florida Bar Exam.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar (or awaiting July FL Bar exam results)
- Between 1-6 years of litigation experience
- 2026 law school graduates who have taken the 2026 Florida Bar exam
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong aptitude for managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines
- Comfortable handling depositions and court appearances
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal rules of procedure
- Ability to work with a variety of attorneys and staff
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- In-person position in the St. Petersburg, Florida, office
- Occasional flexibility to work remotely (1-2 days per week)
