Litigation Assistant - Employment

Job Summary
Prepare litigation, tribunal, and court documents, including electronic filings and information responses for administrative audits. Draft and revise correspondence, memos, and court forms while proofreading all work product for accuracy and proper formatting. Convert documents to Adobe PDF and coordinate with process servers and court offices regarding service, hearings, and motion bookings. Act as a liaison between lawyers and contacts to manage file progression, scheduling, and travel arrangements. Maintain electronic and paper filing systems and support practice management tasks such as docket entries, billings, and expense processing. Provide backup assistance to lawyers and legal staff as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in litigation
- Post-secondary education in Legal Administration or an equivalent program
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, Excel, and other legal-specific technologies
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Exceptional proofreading, grammar, and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion at all times
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and all levels of firm personnel
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with and knowledge of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, Federal Courts, Rules of Civil Procedure, and court practices and procedures
- Understanding of metadata
- Experience with Aderant or other legal billing software, including billing processes, expense management, and invoice processing
