Literacy Specialist (DPIA) (Middle Level)

Literacy Specialist (Middle Level) works with the building principal and the Department of Leadership and Learning to coordinate building literacy programs and ensure high-quality literacy instruction. Responsible for providing daily intensive instructional support to school-based personnel, facilitating professional development in evidence-based literacy strategies, modeling coaching practices, and maintaining records of instructional support. Leads Intensive Intervention and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for reading, provides evidence-based reading interventions, and serves as the building MTSS lead for dyslexia compliance. Performs data analysis and decision-making to monitor student achievement, administers required state/district assessments, and collaborates with teacher teams to implement literacy improvements. Responsible for development and monitoring of a building-level literacy improvement plan aligned to Ohio’s literacy policies, selection and de-selection of high-quality literacy materials, and ensuring accurate reporting of dyslexia screening data to district and state. This role requires ongoing collaboration, professional development, and leadership in literacy instruction, with emphasis on evidence-based strategies, screening, intervention, and data-driven instructional changes.
