Job Summary
Conduct targeted, systematic literacy instruction supporting phonemic awareness, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary using research-based materials like Wilson Just Words and Read Naturally. Monitor individual student progress through ongoing communication with teacher teams and school leaders, interpreting DIBELS and i-Ready diagnostics to drive instruction and adjust intervention criteria. Develop weekly lessons addressing specific student needs while collaborating with Special Education and ESL teachers to co-plan for English Learners and students with disabilities. Proctor K-8 assessments including MCAS and ACCESS, attend data meetings to analyze subgroup results, and incorporate Social Emotional Learning standards to foster inclusion and belonging. Manage classroom behavior with Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies and communicate regularly with families using culturally responsive approaches.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Massachusetts teacher certification
- Reading All Levels
- Knowledge of Common Core Frameworks
- Possess a deep understanding of literacy theory for the purpose of instruction and best practices
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a K-8 classroom
- Experience working in an urban public schools setting
- Experience with multiple literacy curricula with English Learners and Students with Disabilities
- Foreign Language Proficiency
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Reading Instruction/Literacy
- Dual Licensure in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language
- Reading Specialist Licensure
