Job Summary
Literacy Instructional Coach for Ravenna City Schools (K-2), a 50% coaching and 50% direct instruction role on a 184-day contract beginning with the 2026-27 school year. Reports to the Director of Curriculum and Assessment and Building Principal. Provides job-embedded professional development for teachers, including in-class consultation, model lessons, co-teaching, collaborative planning, individual and group coaching, feedback, observations, and/or walk-throughs. Develops coaching plans to build teacher capacity and student achievement; aligns instruction with ODE standards and adopted district curriculum; analyzes assessments and student work to inform instructional decisions; provides direct student instruction as needed. Requires knowledge of structured literacy and current dyslexia support laws. Partners with administrators and teachers to support building leadership teams and instructional goals across literacy instruction and assessment; supports district priorities and evidenced-based practices. Required Qualifications
- Teaching License or Educational Administration or appropriate related field
- Five years of successful teaching experience; preferably elementary across multiple grade levels
- Structured literacy knowledge; familiarity with dyslexia support laws
- Complete FBI-BCI background check; comply with drug-free workplace policies
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching License, Educational Administration or appropriate related field
- Five years of successful teaching experience; prefer experience teaching elementary at multiple grade levels; prefer experience in coaching and mentoring
- Trained and knowledgeable in structured literacy; knowledgeable about current Dyslexia Support Laws
- Support teachers in the implementation of all elements of Reading/English Language Arts instruction, including disciplinary literacy
- Provide job-embedded professional development for teachers that includes: in-class consultation, model lessons, co-teaching, collaborative planning, individual and group coaching, feedback, observations and/or walk-throughs
- Develop coaching plans for teachers to improve teacher capacity and ensure student improvement
- Provide ongoing professional development for teachers and administrators that supports evidenced-based practices to enhance literacy instruction and assessment and supports building leadership team and teacher-based team instructional goals
- Work with administrators and teachers to align instruction and teaching practices with the ODE learning standards, the adopted curriculum materials and the district's priorities
- Support administrators and teachers through collaborative analysis of assessments, student work and other student performance data to analyze current practice and identify ways to inform instruction
- Provide direct instruction to students as needed, per building principal
- Complete a clean FBI-BCI background check
- Comply with drug-free workplace rules and board policies
