Job Summary
Literacy Coach leads professional development and instructional supports to teachers in literacy across school, district, and potentially broader levels. Serves as literacy content expert, supports curriculum, instruction, and assessment, models lessons and feedback, analyzes data to monitor progress, coordinates with literacy team and administration, and collaborates with Special Education and Bilingual staff to improve literacy outcomes. Provides training on the CSDE Language Arts and NHPS Literacy Curriculum Frameworks, develops intervention plans, mentors teachers, and supports reading intervention for at-risk students. Requires valid teaching certification, five years of classroom experience, and knowledge of Common Core/Smarter Balanced; role emphasizes leadership, data-driven instruction, collaboration, and professional development, with responsibilities spanning classroom to district-wide literacy initiatives. Salary contingent on degree and experience; salary range is $53,220 - $108,047 for the 2026-27 school year.
Required Qualifications
- Valid teaching certification
- Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts 1-12(102) required
- Reading Consultant Language Arts (097) preferred
- Reading Consultant K-8 (096) preferred
- Five years of successful teaching experience
- Knowledge of Common Core and Smarter Balanced Assessment
- Experience using instructional technology to support teaching and learning, curriculum development, staff training, and program and student accountability
- Outstanding organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to educational equity
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
