Job Summary
Manage an assigned classroom by presenting lessons, maintaining control, and administering discipline in accordance with board policies. Carry out appropriate learning activities and follow lesson plans developed by the classroom teacher to ensure students' education is not disrupted during the teacher of record's absence. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and establish open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues. Take necessary precautions to protect students and facilities while maintaining a positive role model for the school district's mission. Maintain prompt and regular attendance for each substitute assignment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to work well with children

- Establish and maintain control in the classroom and administer discipline in accordance with board policies, administrative regulations, and campus policies and rules
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students
- Maintain a cooperative, professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members
- Be flexible to meet the needs of the school
- Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
- Stay informed of and comply with district and school regulations and policies
- Read the Substitute Teacher Handbook
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance for each substitute assignment
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Desired Qualifications
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate preferred/not required
