Job Summary

Direct and control the operation of the liquor department by supervising, training, and hiring personnel while ensuring compliance with state and federal liquor sales laws. Manage customer relations by resolving complaints, answering product inquiries, and implementing personalized service programs. Order, receive, stock, and rotate product to maintain proper inventory levels, eye-appeal, and safety standards across the sales area, backroom, and cooler. Conduct daily inspections, monitor shrink and expenses, and complete required paperwork including daily logs, purchase reports, and inventory counts. Operate check stand equipment, make intercom announcements, and utilize computer software for ordering and scheduling. Implement seasonal displays, review MicroStrategy reports for business decisions, and maintain accurate records on ad item movement. May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays with scheduled hours varying based on coverage needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of all job duties within the Liquor Department
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage people
  • Ability to maintain composure in dealing with customers, vendors and co-workers
  • Knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices
  • Good understanding of Company practices and Liquor Department policies and procedures on storage, safety, sanitation and loss prevention
  • Knowledge of state and federal liquor sales laws
  • Ability to learn types, nomenclature, alcohol content, uses and care of liquor department products
  • Awareness of popular drink recipes
  • Ability to judge and react to business activity
  • Knowledge of product quality, variety, standards, sanitation and labeling
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and metric measurements
  • Ability to lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 80 lbs
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach frequently and climb ladders
  • Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks, six-wheeler carts and pallet jacks
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
  • Mental alertness
  • Ability to operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to order products, plan sales, input inventory and schedules and print labels
  • Knowledge of profit and loss statements
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Good attendance
