LINUX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (TS/SCI REQUIRED)

Job Summary

Proactively manage system infrastructure including databases, hardware, and software while performing system monitoring and analysis to verify integrity and availability. Diagnose and resolve problems for both hardware and software issues, conducting performance tuning and troubleshooting of servers. Regularly upgrade system software and firmware as required, testing patches prior to pushing to the enterprise and assisting in integrating new applications and technologies. Maintain system infrastructure, support upgrades and patches for security and application support, and communicate technical solutions to varying levels of technical knowledge. Requires 5+ years of experience, in-depth Linux knowledge, and an active TS/SCI clearance.

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science or similar field, English major preferred
  • 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Linux operating system
  • Good knowledge of several scripting languages
  • General understanding of IP networks, switching, subnets and VLANs
  • General understanding of hardware to include Servers, Blade Chassis, Fiber Channels, SANS
  • Knowledge of system security concerns and vulnerabilities
  • Experience with RH Directory Server or FOSS alternatives
  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • IA certification (either Security+ or CISSP)
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance open to obtaining CI polygraph
  • Ability to respond to support requests after hours
  • Flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing environment
  • Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites preferred, Travel usually not to exceed 25%

Desired Qualifications

  • GITLAB and puppet experience desirable
  • GPFS/IBM ESS experience desirable
  • Experience with Cloud Environments and architectures under K8s orchestration desirable
  • BS degree in Computer Science or similar field preferred, relevant work experience may be substituted
  • The ideal candidate would have experience in a traditional bare metal and VM environment as well as Cloud environments with a desire to gravitate more to the later
  • Proactively manage system infrastructure including, databases, testing computer equipment, and other software and hardware
  • Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues that may arise
  • Perform system monitoring and analysis verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, performance tuning and troubleshooting of servers, software and hardware and respond to anomalies
  • Regularly upgrade system software and firmware as required
  • Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into the current system
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Cloud Environments and architectures under K8s orchestration desirable
