Job Summary

Administer and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in classified and unclassified environments while designing AWS infrastructure including VPC, EC2, S3, and IAM. Automate provisioning and deployment tasks using Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation, and monitor system performance to conduct root-cause analysis and implement tuning. Patch and harden systems to meet DISA STIG and RMF compliance, manage user permissions, and support CI/CD pipelines alongside cybersecurity teams for incident response. Participate in Agile/Scrum sprints to provide infrastructure support to development and QA teams. This role requires an active Top Secret clearance and is fully onsite in Huntsville, AL, supporting a federal intelligence agency's mission-critical systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 8+ years of hands-on Linux system administration and cloud operations experience
  • Experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or similar distributions
  • Implementing automation and infrastructure-as-code solutions
  • Maintaining high-availability, secure cloud environments in compliance with DoD security standards
  • Administering and maintaining Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in classified and unclassified environments
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, RDS, EFS)
  • Automating provisioning, configuration, and deployment tasks using Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation
  • Monitoring system performance, conducting root-cause analysis, and implementing performance tuning
  • Patching and hardening Linux systems to meet DISA STIG and RMF compliance requirements
  • Managing user accounts, permissions, and security policies in accordance with DoD standards
  • Supporting and integrating CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
  • Collaborating with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous monitoring and incident response
  • Participating in Agile/Scrum sprints, providing infrastructure support to development and QA teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure in AWS (VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch)
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancers)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline)
  • Working knowledge of security hardening (STIGs, CIS benchmarks) and RMF controls
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS)
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud or classified AWS regions
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Security+, CISSP, or equivalent DoD 8570 certification
  • Exposure to monitoring tools (Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios)
