Job Summary

Install, configure, maintain, and support Linux clients and servers in physical and virtual environments, ensuring high availability and security compliance across Department of Defense and Intelligence Community networks. Perform operating system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux, and Ubuntu. Troubleshoot server, application, storage, and network issues while monitoring operations using logging tools to diagnose performance problems. Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible and create technical documentation and standard operating procedures. Coordinate with Tier 3 functional roles and communicate significant IT changes and outages to customers, management, and information security. This short-term position ends in December 2026 and is located at the Beavercreek, Ohio office.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another related field of study
  • 5+ years of experience administering enterprise Linux environments
  • Strong, verifiable experience in Linux system administration, including configuration, patching, user management, and security hardening
  • Experience with automation using Ansible or similar tools
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere
  • Experience working on deployment environments, including virtual machines
  • Knowledge of SSH, SCP, TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and firewall concepts
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and responsible team player able to work independently with minimal daily direction
  • Effective and efficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work and interact with technically and organizationally diverse personnel
  • DoD 8140 Intermediate Certification, such as CompTIA Security+ or equivalent

Desired Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience performing systems administration
  • Experience across the traditional IT stack, including clients, networking, servers, and storage
  • Familiarity with enterprise PKI, SSL/TLS certificates, and security compliance frameworks
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
  • Experience applying STIGs or CIS Benchmarks to Linux operating systems, Windows operating systems, network devices, ESXi hosts, or required applications
  • Experience building systems and maintaining tools such as Bitbucket, Bamboo, GitLab, or similar tools
  • Experience working or developing in multi-domain, multi-cloud, or hybrid-cloud environments
