Job Summary
Conduct interpretation and translation services for military interrogations, intelligence collection, and operational missions, including transcribing printed and audio source material. Provide idiomatic translations of non-technical material from English to SCRL language(s) or vice versa, supplementing work with cultural and ethnic context to clarify intent. Perform document exploitation by scanning, researching, and analyzing foreign language documents and intercepted data to extract information meeting military criteria. Deliver analysis and reporting on translated foreign language source material while supporting 24/7 missions with shift work. Maintain an active TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance and pass a polygraph and CI Focus Interview.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- 2 years' experience in interpretation/translation
- Interagency Language Round Table (ILR) level 3 in both Target Language and English

- in-depth geopolitical knowledge
- computer literate
- ACTIVE TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance
- ability to pass a polygraph and a CI Focus Interview
- ability to understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect and to follow accurately the essentials of conversations between educated native speakers, understand radio broadcasts, news stories similar to wire service reports, oral reports, some oral technical reports, and public addresses on non-technical subjects
- ability to produce idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from English to the target language and vice versa
- ability to interpret/translate using colloquial and slang words and phrases
- ability to conduct consecutive and accurate translations, transcription, and interpretation of ongoing conversations/activities and intelligence activities to/from the target language
- ability to accurately provide the cultural and ethnic context of translations and interpretations and provide advice on the cultural and ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, documents, etc.
- ability to accurately perform document exploitation (scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents for intelligence information and identify/extract information components meeting military information requirement list criteria)
- Working proficiency in Portuguese
