Job Summary
Perform linguistic analyses on large datasets; perform linguistic error analysis of AI model outputs, determining frequent/severe error categories; write and revise guidelines for human annotation and translation tasks; conduct typological and sociolinguistic research on many languages; perform analyses for Responsible AI (toxic language, hate speech, gender bias) in massively multilingual settings; conduct literature reviews on NLP-adjacent topics and summarize findings; compare the quality of deliveries between vendors and provide actionable feedback; provide information on linguistic knowledge (typology, morpho-syntax, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, writing systems, pragmatics, phonology); reach out to and collaborate with native speakers; communicate results to engineers and researchers.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Linguistics or related field is a must
- PhD is a plus
- Must have strong written and spoken communication skills
- Must be a native speaker of a non-English language (preferably Hindi) with high proficiency in another Indo-Aryan or South Dravidian language
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Ability to work independently under pressure
- Experience collaborating with ML/NLP/engineering teams
- Experience contributing to research papers
- Experience with corpus linguistics and language typology
- Experience with field work is a plus
- Must have some experience with applying basic NLP techniques
