Job Summary
Lineman (Construction) will construct and maintain transmission, distribution, and telecommunication facilities for EPB. Key duties include erecting/removing/climbing poles, installing and sagging conductors, working on energized/de-energized circuits with proper PPE, handling pole line hardware, operating and understanding pole handling, digging, grounding equipment, and maintaining lines. Requires climbing, working in emergencies with overtime (minimum 16 hours during emergencies), driving assigned vehicles, and mentoring Lineman Apprentices. Must possess Journeyman Lineman status with approved apprenticeship, demonstrate techniques for overhead construction, and hold a valid Class A CDL with DOT Health Card. Strong physical requirements (lifting, climbing, vision, color perception) and computer skills for CGI System use are required.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Lineman
- Completed an approved Lineman Apprenticeship program
- Demonstrated ability to construct and maintain overhead lines
- Ability to use hand tools, hydraulic tools, hot sticks, and protective devices
- A valid “Class A” Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements
- DOT Health Card
- Ability to report to work within 1 hour of the EPB Operations Center
- Ability to pass hands-on skills assessment
- Climbing and physical ability requirements
- Color vision and depth perception requirements
- Proficiency with computers for CGI System map reading and data entry
