Job Summary
Lineman Apprentice position at Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) and BEC Fiber in Bandera, TX. Assists experienced linemen with energized electrical system tasks, ensures materials are on hand, and operates equipment under supervision to gain the skills for advancement. Requires 1,000 hours of on-the-job training (OJT) and completion of the Lineman Progression Program training and demonstrations. Responsibilities include assembling and loading materials for service/work orders, assisting with construction/maintenance of power distribution systems, planning service routes, performing tasks at service locations under supervision, assisting with outdoor light repairs, supporting outage restoration, and completing required training and certifications. Knowledge of electrical systems, tools, safety protocols, and the ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions are needed. Education and certifications include a High School Diploma or Equivalent, First Aid/CPR, Pole Top Rescue, and a valid Texas driver’s license (CDL A within 6 months). Applicants must meet background, drug screen, and physical requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Pole Top Rescue Certification
- 1 - 3 years of experience in an equivalent position
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- CDL Class A must be obtained within 6 months of hire
